Helena Gintere was born and grew up in Riga (Latvia), where she received her Master of  Music in Piano Performance.  For 20 years she worked as a accompanist at the Latvian State Conservatory in the Choir and Vocal Faculty,  and as a piano teacher in Em. Darziņš Music Highshool for gifted children in Riga. As well as teaching piano, Helena   has directed her own Latvian choirs and played during major choral performances under noted Toronto choir directors. She has performed in the Glenn Gould Studio with one of Canada's top pianists and now continues her professional involvement  with a variety of musical productions. She is accredited as an Advanced Specialist (Piano) with the Royal Conservatory of Music ( RCM)  and is a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association. Her students are regularly asked to participate in the Association's  Toronto competitions . As well, many of her students regularly earn high standing in their RCM performance and theory exams. Two of her students were finalists in the Canada -wide RCM  2015 performance competition. Others have achieved honours at the Kiwanis and other music festivals. Her students are intensely loyal and return year after year to complete their studies with her.
